Crude physics

This certainly isn't conclusive, but the absolute proof isn't what I'm after. Chsty got back to me with the following:

"Well, after some crude calculations (I'm hoping that i have it right, I'm feeling too lazy to get my physics book), it looks like you have to swing the remote about 15 meters per second to get 30 lbf of force.

Like I said, it's crude, I may have converted units wrong, but just based on the stress test that guy did, I'm guessing that the people breaking the straps are abusing the system. [...] I call bullshit."

I also understand that the kind of slow stress I was subjecting the lanyard to isn't the same as a high-velocity momentary force. Still and all, I don't buy it.
